September 20, 1992 - Oradea - Budapest
My first trip abroad was done by bus, from Oradea to Budapest, Sunday September 20, 1992.
Monday 21 I must go to ALEXIS SRL, the CATV company of KISS Sanyi, to be trained by KONYA how to design a CATV network.
I arrived at Budapest later than the scheduled hour, I visited it, I missed the bus back and my adventure started. I took a train but I didn't find the tickets office, so I paid the ticked on-board. First I thought I'll get a fine but the guy was OK and he sold me a regular ticket.
I arrived in the closest railway station to the Romanian border (Gyula) and I was awake the whole night, talking with commuters and other strange people in an approximate language. We discussed even politics, about Iliescu, the first president after the Revolution, about the incidents with the Hungarians from Targu Mures and so on.
Early in the morning, about 5 A.M. a bus for commuters took me to the border. I was the only traveler. I crossed the border with a plastic bag and an umbrella.
I took a train from Chisineu Cris to Oradea, I went to the hotel and after 36 hours awake I fell asleep.
I arrived at ALEXIS in the afternoon, I have apologized...
